Can I run an Ampeg SVT4PRO bass head into two 6x10 ampeg cabinets?

the svt4pro is rated at 1600 watts but the 6x10 is only rated at 600 RMS power handling.

does this mean i should be running 2 of the 6x10's to truly take advantage of all the power from the svt4pro ?

Yes you can.

The SVR4pro puts out 490 watts times 2 into 4 ohms. Your 6x10 cabs are 4 ohms. That is how you decide if the power is right. That setup is good, but believe it or not you could actually power EACH 6x10 cab with one amp -

I play through a Ampeg SVT 410HLF cab so any tube that may assist in getting closer to that Classic SVT all-tube tone would be awesome ( I know I am dreaming). any 12AX7 tube should work fine if you just want it to work. If you want some sort of special recommendations for the different characteristics different brands of 12AX7's have, you should check out some forums dedicated to audio because there aren't that many people here with that technical knowledge. I am looking to swap out the stock Sovtek but was looking for some opinions on the matter.
